Morgan Banasik each poured in 18 points to lead the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team to a 76-56 rout of Minnesota Duluth in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Friday in Duluth, Minn.
MSUM improved to 17-5 overall and 14-5 in the NSIC with the win and remains in a tie with Northern State atop the north division. UMD fell to 6-16 overall and 6-13 in the league with the loss.
Handevidt had 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting while also pulling down a team-best eight rebounds. Banasik was 5-of-12 from the field but was 5-of-7 from the foul line while adding two assist and three steals. Sophomore forward
Drew Sannes had 14 points and two blocks off the bench for MSUM.
Steve d'Eustachio Stat of the Game: The Dragons have now had a two-game regular season sweep over Minnesota Duluth three years in a row and five of the last six.
For the third straight road game, MSUM got off to a quick start and never looked back. The Dragons outscored UMD 20-8 in the first quarter, thanks to nine points from Banasik, who drained a pair of threes in the first 10 minutes.
The Bulldogs cut the lead to 30-23 with four minutes left in the half, but MSUM responded with a 9-2 run over the final 3:59 to take a 39-25 lead into the break. Banasik capped off the half with a three-point play to push the lead to 14.

Heather Strese were the offensive sparks in the first half for MSUM, scoring 12 and nine points, respectively.
MSUM took a 53-43 lead into the fourth quarter but put the game away with a 10-0 run to over the first 2:16 to take a commanding 63-43 lead. Handevidt had five points during that run while Banasik buried another three. The lead grew to as many as 22 in the fourth as the Dragons won their fourth straight on the road.
Strese had nine points for MSUM. Junior guard Jessica hart had five points and three assists.
MSUM faces St. Cloud State at 4 p.m. on Saturday in St. Cloud, Minn.
