ResultsBISMARCK, N.D. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team won five of six singles matches on its way to a 6-3 win over St. Cloud State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Saturday in Bismarck, N.D.
MSUM is now 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the NSIC with the win, while St. Cloud State fell to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the league.
"St. Cloud State started out very well, they had some tough doubles players but I had faifth in our singles lineup," MSUM head coach
Oliver Summers said. "Again our team was mentally tough and kept their focus really well. So far so good!"
St. Cloud State won two of three doubles matches, claiming wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 slots. Junior
Jessamy Jones and senior
Ashley Wood got a win for MSUM at No. 2 doubles, taking an 8-4 victory over Jamie Voelker and El O'Brien.
Jones picked up a singles win as well, beating O'Brien 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 1. Sophomore
Jade Goodyear-Anderson rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Abigail Kantor at No. 2 sinlges, while junior
Maria Moral Carretero earned a 6-4, 6-1 win over Voelker at No. 3 singles for MSUM. Senior
Morgan Smith won a hard-fought contest at No. 4 singles for the Dragons, beating Marilla Roque Diversi 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.
Sophomore
Ricquel Ramsbottom earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Miranda Wynkoop at No. 6 singles for the fifth Dragon win.
MSUM faces Minnesota Duluth at 9 a.m. on Sunday in Bismarck.
