Dragons End Regular Season With Win Over UMC, 80-46

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The No. 10-ranked Minnesota State University Moorhead men's basketball team capped off another strong regular season with an 80-46 win over Minnesota Crookston in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play Saturday night at Nemzek Fieldhouse.9851
The Dragons are now 27-4 on the year and 19-3 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles are 3-23 overall and 1-21 in the conference. 
MSUM will host Wayne State in the NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament at 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Nemzek.

MSUM recognized five seniors as part of Senior Day: Ryan Benoy, Evan Holt Ngijol Songolo, Tyler Vaughan, Isaac Sevlie
. All five were recognized before the game.
The Dragons were led by senior center Isaac Sevlie's double double of 21 points and 10 boards while senior guard Tyler Vaughan added 12 points, four boards and three assists. Sophomore guard Tanner Kretchman had 11 points, five rebounds and five assists and freshman center Addison Park added 10 points and seven boards. 
MSUM shot 52.5 percent from the field on the game and 41 percent from beyond the arc while UMC shot 29.5 percent from the field and a devastating 5 percent from three-point range. The Dragons grabbed 49 rebounds compared to 28 from the Golden Eagles. 
The game was tied early at 15:55 to go in the first half before MSUM would go on a 5-0 run ending on a three-point play from Sevlie. A layup from senior guard Evan Holt would extend the Dragon lead to 28-11 with 8:26 to play in the first half. The Dragons would take a 47-21 lead into the half on a last second layup from Holt. 
The second half was never closer than 24 as the Dragons would run with their lead. A three from Vaughan with 13:02 to play would boost the Dragon lead to 56-29. A pair of free throws from Sevlie at the 5:34 mark would give the Dragons their largest lead of the game of 36 at 72-36. A jumper with 42 seconds to play from Park would give MSUM the victory at 80-46. 
The Dragons' first-round game is against Wayne State on Wednesday at 8 p.m. After the first-round games the tournament moves to the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
