Box ScoreSIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday, falling to Augustana 9-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action in Sioux Falls, S.D.
MSUM fell to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the NSIC with the loss while Augustana improved to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the league.
"This is the best Augustana team I've seen. They were very disciplined, foscused and very talented," MSUM head coach
Oliver Summers said. "Our players competed very well, especially in singles and there was a lot of good tennis on display. Augustana doesn't always put their best players in the lineup and in doing so today it showed they have respect for our program."
The Dragons were unable to win a game in doubles as Augustana's strong play helped the Vikings sweep.
In singles, junior
Jessamy Jones fell to Augie's Jessa Richards, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while senior
Morgan Smith fell to Berkley Darr at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-3.
MSUM faces the University of Sioux Falls at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
