WINONA, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team lost a heartbreaking 5-4 contest to Upper Iowa in action Saturday in Winona, Minn.
MSUM fell to 8-7 overall and 7-4 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference while Upper Iowa, which is alone in second place in the league, is now 10-8 overall and 9-1 in the league. Despite the loss, MSUM has qualified for the NSIC tournament.

Ricquel Ramsbottom prevailed in a tight 9-7 contest to give the Dragons a point at that spot.
The Peacocks won at No. 1 and No. 3 singles in straight sets. Sophomore Jade Goodyear- Anderson won a thriller at No. 2 singles for MSUM, beating Isabella Sella, 6-3, 1-6, 10-8.
Smith cruised to a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles over Jemina Lynn Sorman while Ramsbottom also won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6 singles over Yulia Prokophyshyn for the third Dragon singles win.
The match came down to a marathon at No. 5 singles between Anna Okolot and MSUM senior
Ashley Wood. In a match that went to a third-set super tiebreaker, Okolot survived for a 7-6, 6-7, 10-5 win to clinch the match for Upper Iowa.
"We knew this would be a tough match and I'm so happy with how the team did," MSUM head coach
Oliver Summers said. "Morgan and Ricquel winning in doubles gave us a chance and Jade had an excellent result to make it 4-4. To Ashley's credit she came back multiple time and was so close and played so well. I was really proud of the team today."
MSUM will face St. Benedict's at 1 p.m. on Saturday in St. Joseph, Minn.
