MOORHEAD, Minn. — Coming off of a 1-1 week of nonconference play, the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team turns its attention to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play this week as the Dragons host Northern State at 3 p.m. on Sunday. The game is the NSIC opener for both teams.
"Last week was about continuing our growth as a team," MSUM head coach
Christie Chappell said. "We were learning how to play offensively and defensively as a unit. It was impressive to see huge improvements from game to game. In conference the team will be looking to build on these two performances and continue our growth."
MSUM went 1-1 last week, falling to Minnesota Crookston 1-0 in overtime on Thursday before rallying for a 2-1 win over Black Hills State. In the win over Black Hills State, senior

Jessica Dallman and freshman
Rachel Jenson added assists.
Johnson and Greaney share the team lead with one goal and two points. Johnson leads in shots (11) and shots on goal (four). Sophomore
Jessica Dallman had three shots, all on goal. Jenson and Dallman each have an assist.
All three goalkeepers on the roster played last week for MSUM. Freshman
Kennedy Rodgers picked up the win against Black Hills State after playing in the second half and recording seven saves. Junior
Corina Edgington started the game and had three saves in a half of action. Junior
Reagan VonBerge started the opener and had five saves in 96-plus minutes of action.
Christie Chappell is in her first season as MSUM's head coach with a record of 1-1.
About Northern State
The Wolves, who face Jamestown on Tuesday prior to facing MSUM, are 1-0 on the season after beating Black Hills State, 8-1 on Sunday. Anna Bondy had three goals in the win for Northern while Darian Leschewski had two. Kay Hernandez, Stephany Estrada and Shianne Rosselli each had goals for the Wolves while Hernandez led with two assists. Northern State had 42 shots, including 25 on goal, in the game, compared to seven for Black Hills State. Stacey Cavill had four saves in 57 minutes of goalkeeping for Northern.
Steve Kehm is in his 19th season as Northern State's head coach with a record of 177-143-35 at the school.

Sophomore forward
Annika Greaney missed the 2015 season with an injury and made her return to the lineup starting with the opener against Minnesota Crookston on Thursday. Greaney scored the game-winning goal — the second of her Dragon career — in MSUM's 2-1 win over Black Hills State on Saturday.
Johnson Hits the Net Again
Senior forward
Jessica Johnson scored the fifth goal of her collegiate career in the 2-1 win over Black Hills State. Johnson's goal tied the game at 1-1 and set up the Dragons to win the game in the final 10 minutes.
