Drew Sannes recorded another double-double and the Dragon defense was stellar once again as the No. 18-ranked Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team recorded a 65-55 win over Augustana in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Friday night in Sioux Falls, S.D.
MSUM has won 14 in a row and is now 14-1 overall and 11-0 in the NSIC. Augustana fell to 12-6 overall and 7-4 in the NSIC. The win was the 200th NSIC victory for Dragon head coach
Karla Nelson, who is now eight wins away from 300 for her coaching career.
The Dragons maintain a two-game lead over Sioux Falls and Winona State in the overall NSIC race and now lead the north division by four games over Northern State and Minnesota Duluth, both of whom lost on Friday.
How It Happened…
Sannes had 26 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Dragon attack.
It was another strong effort from the Dragon defense as MSUM held Augustana to 55 points, which is 24 below the Vikings' season scoring average. MSUM limited the Vikings to 33.9 percent shooting (21-of-62) including 27.3 percent from three-point range (6-of-22).
The score was tied a 21-21 with 2:52 left in the first half but the Dragons scored the final seven points of the frame to take a 28-21 lead into halftime. The bench, which outscored Augie 22-4 for the night, sparked that 7-0 run as freshman forward
Megan Hintz had four points and senior guard
Jessica Hart buried a three.
The Vikings cut the lead to 43-39 with 1:18 left in the third but a three by Sannes made it 46-39.
Holding a 48-41 lead in the fourth, Sannes scored five straight points to push the Dragons lead into double digits at 53-41 with 7:22 left. The largest Dragon lead was 15 in the final quarter.
The Dragons shot 41.1 percent (23-of-56) from the field and had a 44-30 edge in rebounds.

Sannes led the Dragons with 26 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks. She was 10-of-17 from the field, including 3-of-4 from three-point range.

Shannon Galegher had 11 points; she was 3-for-4 from the field and 5-of-6 from the line.
Sophomore guard
Jacky Volkert had eight points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
Freshman forward
Megan Hintz had six points off the bench while senior guard
Jessica Hart had five.

The Dragons have now won seven straight games played on Friday the 13th. The last time the Dragons lost on a Friday the 13th was a 66-65 home setback to Bemidji State on Feb. 13, 2004.
