How it happened…
MSUM opened the game on an 18-9 run, building an 18-9 lead. Southwest Minnesota State responded with an 18-3 run grabbing its largest lead of the game, 27-21. The Dragons clawed back into the game and eventually took a seven point lead into the locker room at halftime, 46-39. Senior guard
Jon Doss had a team-high 14 points in the first half.
In a second half that saw the score tied nine times, with seven lead changes, it was MSUM who led halfway through the second half 67-65. The Dragons managed to hold on to that two-point lead up until the 1:31 mark with a jumper from the Mustangs knotted the game at 87-87. SMSU held a two-point advantage with under a minute to play, but a lay in from sophomore forward
Addison Park tied the game and sent it to overtime.
A 10-4 run out of SMSU to start the overtime gave the Mustangs the margin it needed to seal the game over MSUM with a final score of 113-105.
MSUM shot 54.7 percent from the field, including 46.4 percent from beyond the arc. MSUM had the edge in assists 24-23.

Aaron Lien scored a team-high 25 points off 10-of-15 from the field. Lien had three rebounds and three assists.

Jon Doss finished the contest with 20 points, including seven three-pointers. Doss hauled in three rebounds and had three assists and two steals.

Tanner Kretchman registered a double-double on the evening with 18 points and 10 assists. Kretchman also had four rebounds and two steals.
Sophomore forward
Addison Park scored 15 points with 11 rebounds for a double-double.

Ayob Ayob scored 31 points and 10 rebounds in the Dragons' win last Saturday versus St. Cloud State, but fell short of a double-double tonight. The last Dragon to register back-to-back double-doubles was when Tarell Clark did it in a 95-84 win at Winona St. Feb. 15, 2014 and then getting 13 and 10 at home the following Friday night in an 85-55 home victory against Minot St.
