MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team will continue Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play this week. The Dragons will host Minnesota Crookston at 4 p.m. on Friday for the Highway 75 Rivalry Rock before traveling to Bemidji to face the Bemidji State Beavers at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The Dragons are coming off a weekend that saw them drop two games by 1-0 scores. They started the weekend with a tight 1-0 loss to Wayne State before falling to Augustana by the same score on Sunday afternoon.
On the season, the Dragons are led by junior midfielder
Jessica Dallman, who has two goals and one assist on the season. Senior forward
Jenai DeNardo leads the team with two assists, while junior forward
Annika Greaney leads the team with 16 shots. The primary goalkeepers for MSUM have been senior
Reagan VonBerge, who has 28 saves, and senior
Corina Edgington, who has played in five games, allowing 1.15 goals per game while making 27 saves.
About the Golden Eagles
The game against Minnesota Crookston will be for more then just a win. The winner will receive the Highway 75 Rivalry Rock, which they will keep until the teams meet next season. The rock is currently possessed by the Dragons after defeating Crookston 1-0 last year in Crookston. The Golden Eagles come into the weekend with an 0-9 overall record, with a 0-7 mark in conference play. The top goal scorer is Jessica Withrow, who has scored two goals this season. Jessica Scott leads the team with five shots. The top goalkeeper is Olivia Puttin, who has played in nine games, making 63 saves on the season. Crookston is led by head coach Joe Alianeiello, who is in his seventh season as head coach of the Golden Eagles.
About the Beavers
Bemidji State comes into the weekend with an 8-0-1 overall mark, and a 6-0-1 conference mark. They are coming off a tie with Minnesota State Mankato on Sunday. Prior to facing MSUM, they will take on Northern State on Friday afternoon. The Beavers are led by Rachel Norton, who has a team high seven goals scored this season, along with four assists. Allyson Smith leads the team with five assists and 30 shots. The top goalkeeper is Anna Fobbe, who has payed in five games, allowing just one goal while making 17 saves.
Looking Ahead
After the Bemidji Match, the Dragons will remain on the road next weekend, as they will face Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State Mankato before returning home for their final three home games of the regular season.
