SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead men's basketball team's two-game winning streak came to an end with a 101-81 loss to Drury in action at the Drury Thanksgiving Classic on Friday in Springfield, Mo.
MSUM fell to 2-3 overall while Drury improved to 3-1.
Five Dragons scored in double figures, led by sophomore guard Evan Hines with 17 points and six rebounds. Senior guard Tanner Kretchman had 14 points while junior forward Addison Park had 13. Sophomore guard Johnny Beeninga and sophomore forward Matt Anderson each collected 12 points.
Junior guard Travaun Coad had four assists and two steals to go with seven points.
MSUM shot 47.3 percent (26-of-55) compared to 56.5 percent (35-of-62) for the Panthers. Drury had a 36-31 edge in rebounds.
The Dragons trailed just 40-35 at halftime and shot 50 percent (13-of-26) from the field. Beeninga, Kretchman, Anderson and Park all had eight points each.
MSUM was within 69-61 with 9:23 left, but a 10-2 run pushed the Drury lead to 79-63 with 7:43 left. MSUM was unable to get closer than 13 the rest of the way.
Junior forward Jake Johnson had five rebounds off the bench for MSUM.
MSUM plays William Jewell at 1 p.m. tomorrow to wrap the nonconference season.
