MOORHEAD, Minn. — Double-doubles from senior forward
Drew Sannes and sophomore forward
Megan Hintz sparked the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team to a 70-47 win over Bemidji State in action Saturday at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead, Minn.
MSUM is now 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference while Bemidji State fell to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in the league.
Sannes recorded her 18th career double-double and third of the season with 21 points and 12 rebounds. She is now three points away from 1,000 for her career. Sannes added three blocks. Hintz had 19 points, one away from a career high, and added 10 rebounds. She was 8-of-9 from the field on her way to her first career double-double.
Senior guard
Cassidy Thorson added 11 points and four assists for MSUM while freshman guard
Lauren Fech had eight rebounds.
MSUM shot 40.9 percent (27-of-66) for the game while holding Bemidji State to 29.8 percent shooting (17-of-57). The Dragons had a 51-33 edge in rebounds, including 15-6 on the offensive glass.
The Dragons led 33-23 at halftime thanks to 15 first-half points from Sannes and 10 from Hintz. MSUM opened the second half on a 14-3 run to push the lead to 47-26. Thorson buried a pair of threes during that run while Hintz added four points. The Dragon lead never dropped out of double digits the rest of the night.
Sophomore forward
Grace Swenson had five points off the bench for MSUM.
The Dragons play at No. 14 Northern State on Friday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m.
