MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team will host the University of Minnesota-Morris in a non-conference matchup on Friday. The match will start at 6 p.m. at Courts Plus in Fargo, N.D.
The Dragons are 8-5 on the season, with a 4-3 conference record. They went 3-2 on their annual spring break trip to Florida, where they defeated Ave Maria, Moravian College, and John Carroll. Their last conference match was on Feb. 25, when they defeated Minnesota State, 5-4.
The last time the Dragons played was on Saturday when they defeated the University of Mary 6-3. In that match, the Dragons won five of the six singles matches. The lone Dragons win at doubles came from
Olivia Keelin and
Alexis Konecne, who won 8-5.
The Dragons are led this season in singles play by
Maria Moral Carretero, who is 10-2.
Jessamy Jones has a 9-4 record, while Keelin is 8-2 on the season. Freshman
Chessa Jones is 6-3. In doubles play, the Dragons are led by the pairing of Keelin and Konecne, who have an 8-4 record.
About the Cougars
The Cougars are 0-2 on the season after losing a conference match to College of St. Scholastica, and a nonconference match to Bemidji State. They have yet to win a match all season, as both losses were 9-0.
Looking Ahead
After the match, the Dragons will travel to Virginia, Minn. For two conference matches against Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston. They will follow that up with a nonconference trip to Grand Forks to face Division I foe University of North Dakota. They will end the regular season with home matches against Winona State and Upper Iowa.
