CLERMONT, Fla. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team dropped a doubleheader to Pittsburgh-Johnstown on Monday, losing 5-0 and 5-3 to fall to 3-8 on the season.
In Game 1, the Dragons managed four hits, singles by senior outfielder
Carly Williamson, freshman outfielder
Madison Paige, freshman third baseman
Emma Dummer and senior
Lauren Meeker.
MSUM left four runners on in the game.
Freshman
Tori White took the loss on the mound. She gave up four runs in two innings, but none of the runs were earned. Freshman
Becky Volkert pitched five innings and allowed one earned run.
In the second game, sophomore shortstop
Taylor Roddie was 4-for-4 with two RBI while sophomore second baseman
Aunica Novacek and senior outfielder
Hannah Klug were each 2-for-3. Novacek had a triple. Meeker was 1-for-3 with an RBI while freshman pitcher
Jordan Hall was 1-for-2.
MSUM smacked out 10 hits but stranded eight runners.
"We gave ourselves from opportunities but we just didn't capitalize," MSUM head coach
Kelsey Fehl said.
Hall took the loss on the mound, giving up four earned runs in six innings. She struck out four and walked four.
