VIRGINIA, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team earned a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches on Sunday in Virginia, Minn. MSUM beat Bemidji State, 5-4 and Minnesota Crookston, 9-0.
The Dragons are now 11-5 overall and 6-3 in the NSIC.
"This was probably one of the strongest Bemidji squads that we've seen and we knew they've had similar results to us which is why this was such a good result," MSUM head coach
Oliver Summers said. "I'm so glad we've got such good depth in our squad to be able to turn around and beat Crookston right after such a tough match."

Ricquel Ramsbottom and senior
Maria Moral Carretero topped Sabrina Okeson and Breann Walsh, 8-6.
MSUM showed its strength in singles by winning four of the six matches. Senior
Jessamy Jones topped Morgan Opp, 6-4, 7-6 at No. 1 singles while freshman
Olivia Keelin topped Zoe Lindgren, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Freshman
Alexis Konecne prevailed at No. 4 singles for MSUM, beating Hannah Alme, 6-2, 6-3. Moral Carretero also picked up another win, outlasting Walsh 3-6, 6-2, 10-2 at No. 5 singles in a match that proved to be pivotal.
The Dragons did not lose a set against Minnesota Crookston, which forfeited at the final doubles spot and final two singles spots. Konecne and Keelin beat Reanne Erickson and Whitney Erickson at No. 1 doubles, 8-3 while freshman
Maia Wendel and Ramsbottom beat Hanna Ruckheim and Tien Nguygen 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Jessamy Jones rolled to a 6-0, 6-3 win over Whitney Erickson at No. 1 singles, while Moral Carretero topped Reanne Erickson, 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 slot. Freshmen
Danielle Unruh and
Emma Zamora won in straight sets at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.
MSUM ventures outside of conference for its next match on April 7 at North Dakota.
