MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team was swept in a doubleheader by first-place Minnesota State Mankato on Sunday as the Mavericks prevailed 7-0 and 7-3 in Mankato, Minn.
In the opener MSUM did not manage a baserunner against Maverick standout pitcher Coley Ries, who improved to 23-2 on the season.
Freshman
Jordan Hall took the loss for the Dragons, giving up seven runs, four earned, in six innings. She struck out one and walked six.
MSUM had seven hits in Game 2. Senior second baseman
Jill Fox was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI while freshman designated hitter
Payton Gaber was 2-for-3 with a double. Senior center fielder
Carly Williamson was 1-for-4 with an RBI while freshman outfielder
Madison Paige and senior first baseman
Lauren Meeker had hits for MSUM.

Becky Volkert was tagged with the loss, giving up seven hits and six earned runs in 1/3 inning of work. Freshman
Tori White pitched well in relief, giving up one earned run in 5.2 innings.
MSUM hosts the University of Mary at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dragons will play their final eight games at home.
