GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 nonconference match to Division I foe North Dakota in action Friday in Grand Forks, N.D.
MSUM fell to 11-6 on the season.
"We had some fantastic individual results in this match and in general, everybody performed really well," MSUM head coach
Oliver Summers said. "We're looking forward to our two home matches this weekend and this was a nice little warm up for those."
Following Division I rules, UND won the team doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches. Senior
Maria Moral Carretero and junior
Ricquel Ramsbottom did win at No. 3 doubles, beating Maddie Corneau and Shelby Zilmer by a 6-1 score.
Moral Carretero picked up a singles win at the No. 5 slot, topping Aliza Deming 6-0, 6-4. She is a team-best 14-2 on the season.
Freshman
Olivia Keelin had a solid match at No. 2 but fell to Alex Revenig, 6-3, 6-4.
The Dragons will wrap up the regular season with a pair of home matches. MSUM faces Winona State at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Upper Iowa at 9 a.m. on Sunday. The matches will be at Courts Plus in Fargo, N.D.
