FARGO, N.D. – Despite winning two of three doubles matches, the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team fell to Upper Iowa, 5-4 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Sunday at Courts Plus in Fargo, N.D.
MSUM ended the regular season at 12-7 overall and 7-4 in the NSIC while Upper Iowa finished 9-4 and 9-2.
"If someone would have told me before the match that we would have won two out of three doubles matches I probably wouldn't have believed them," MSUM head coach
Oliver Summers said. "The team has worked really hard to get to this point and I'm proud of them."
MSUM won at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Freshmen

Alexis Konecne earned an 8-6 win over Kelly Jachymowski and Shakhnaza Zhanatova at the No. 2 slot, while senior
Maria Moral Carretero and junior
Ricquel Ramsbottom topped Anna Okolot and Breanna Heichert, 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
Upper Iowa won four of the six singles matches, claiming victories at No. 1, 2, 3 and 5 singles.
Konecne picked up a win at No. 4 singles for MSUM with a 3-6, 6-4, 10-3 win over Jachymowski. Freshman
Chessa Jones topped Breanna Heichert, 6-2, 6-2.
MSUM now turns its attention to the NSIC tournament, which will be held April 22-23 in Minnetonka, Minn. MSUM will likely be the fourth seed and will face Minnesota State, Mankato in the opening round.
