ABERDEEN, S.D. – Despite a 16-9 edge in shots, the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team fell short to Northern State, 1-0 in its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opener Sunday in Aberdeen, S.D.
MSUM is now 0-2-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the league while Northern State is 2-1, 1-0 in the NSIC.
"We gave a good effort today, but weren't disciplined and focused in moments we needed to be," MSUM head coach 
Christie Kopietz said.
Senior midfielder 
Jenai DeNardo and freshman 
Avery Wood led MSUM with three shots and two shots on goal. Sophomore 
Marie Griffith had three shots, including one on goal, while 
Kylee Billings had a shot on goal. Junior 
Annika Greaney had two shots.
Senior goalkeeper 
Corina Edgington had five saves for the Dragons.
MSUM is at the University of Sioux Falls on Sept. 16 for its next action.
