MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead volleyball team fell to No. 9-ranked Winona State University 25-18, 25-17, 25-19.

MSUM is now 7-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play after its third straight loss in the dominant Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Freshman outside hitter
Sarah Petrbok led the team in kills with 12, while also adding eight digs and making the Dragons lone service ace of the game. Freshman
Lauren Kiewiet had eight kills and sophomore
Courtney Selbitschka had six. Kiewiet also led the team in assists with 13, while setter
Ellie Hoyt had 12. Junior libero
Monica Vega made 11 digs. Freshman
Kylie Kanwischer and sophomore
Kaylyn Jenkins each had three blocks.

The Warriors started out the first set with a 3-0 lead, which was able to power them to a first set win of 24-18 over the Dragons. MSUM held onto set two a little longer, only trailing 14-12, however seven consecutive Warrior points quickly led WSU to a 25-17 victory in the second set. The third set was similar to the prior two with the Dragons were leading 5-4 but 11 back to back points by Winona help them gain the third set victory and they 3-0 match win.

Up next, MSUM will return home to face Concordia-St. Paul University Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. and Minnesota State University Mankato Sept. 30 at 3 p.m.
