ST. CLOUD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team cut a two-goal deficit in half but came up short in its comeback effort in a 2-1 loss to St. Cloud State in action Sunday in St. Cloud, Minn.
MSUM fell to 1-4-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference while SCSU improve to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the league.
The Dragons were down 2-0 in the second half before breaking through with their first goal. In the 83rd minute, junior forward
Jessica Dallman scored off of an assist from senior midfielder
Jenai DeNardo to make it 2-1. The Dragons were unable to score the tying goal, and fell short by the 2-1 margin.
"It was great execution on the goal from Jenai and Jess, we just have to finish some more of our chances and put together a whole 90 minutes," MSUM head coach
Christie Kopietz said.
Dallman led with two shots, including one on goal. Junior forward
Annika Greaney also had two shots.
Senior goalkeeper
Reagan VonBerge had three saves in 79:05 of action. Sophomore
Kennedy Rodgers had a save as well.
MSUM begins a three-game homestand on Sept. 29 against Wayne State. Game time is 3 p.m. at the MSUM Soccer Field.
