KEARNEY, Neb. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 double overtime tie with Nebraska-Kearney in action Sunday in Kearney, Neb.
MSUM is 0-1-1 on the season. UNK is 1-0-1.
"It was an unbelievably gritty performance," MSUM head coach
Christie Kopietz said. "Everything I could have asked for they gave. We showed the type of character this team has and I cannot wait for the next game."
MSUM played two goalkeepers who combined for the shutout. Senior
Reagan VonBerge played 65 minutes and had five saves while sophomore
Kennedy Rodgers played 45 minutes and had six saves.
The Dragons had two shots in the game. Junior
Annika Greaney had a shot on goal while sophomore
Rachel Jenson had a shot.
"I'm so proud of this team and the effort they gave," MSUM junior captain
Kendall Schauer said. "It was a long hard battle. Kearney did not make it easy but we pushed through. The progress we have made in such a short time is incredible. I can't wait to see where the season takes us."
The Dragons open Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play Sunday, Sept. 10 at Northern State. Game time is 2 p.m. in Aberdeen, S.D.
