WINONA, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's volleyball team fell to Winona State, 25-18, 20-25, 25-19, 25-16 on Friday night in Winona, Minn.
MSUM is now 9-8 overall and 5-5 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action. The Warriors improve to 9-9 overall and 6-4 in the NSIC.

Lauren Kiewiet had 13. Three Dragons had double-digit digs with senior libero

Kylie Kanwischer led all players with seven total blocks.
In the first set, the Warriors jumped out to an early 6-1 lead and continued the momentum late into the set. MSUM faced a 22-10 deficit before rattling off six-consecutive points to force a WSU timeout. Out of the timeout, the Warriors closed out the set by a score of 25-18.
MSUM controlled much of the second set and pulled away from the Warriors at 17-14 off a kill from Carlson. The Dragons took the second set by a score of 25-20 off another Carlson kill. There were eight tied scores in the set, and the Dragons outhit the Warriors .175 to .059.
The teams kept the scores close into the third set, with the Dragons tying the score 8-8 off a kill from freshman outside hitter
Lexi Gilbertson. Back-to-back kills from Selensky and Jenkins narrowed the Warrior lead late in the set, but WSU managed to close out the set by a score of 25-19.
Winona had several runs in the fourth set to take an early 9-5 lead. The Dragons responded with a four-point run to narrow the Warrior lead at 11-9. A commanding performance from WSU would not allow for MSUM to pull any closer, and Winona took a 25-16 set four victory.
On Saturday the Dragons will travel to Upper Iowa for a 2 p.m. matchup.
