KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Junior forward Megan Hintz posted her second double-double in as many games to lead the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team to a 66-55 victory over Pittsburg State at the Central Region Challenge in Kansas City, Mo.
MSUM improves to 2-0 on the season while Pittsburg State falls to 1-1.
Hintz led the team in both scoring (19 points) and rebounds (12). Sophomore guard Kiley Borowicz had 16 points while freshman center Peyton Boom followed with nine points and seven rebounds. Senior guard Jacky Volkert led the team with four assists.
MSUM shot 40.3% (27-67) from the field and held Pittsburg State to 33.9% (21-62). The Dragons held a 47-36 rebound advantage over the Gorillas.
The Dragons finished the first half with a 36-31 lead thanks to an eight-point run in the final three minutes.
The Dragons outscored the Gorillas 30-24 in the final half, and Hintz had six of the eight Dragon points in the fourth period.
MSUM will be back in action Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. when they take on Michigan Tech in Houghton, MI.
