BEMIDJI, Minn. — Senior guard
Jacky Volkert scored a season-high 21 points and surpassed 1,000 for her Dragon career to lead the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team to a 72-47 rout of Bemidji State on Saturday in Bemidji, Minn.
MSUM is now 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference while Bemidji State fell to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the league.
Volkert finished 8-of-9 from the field, including 2-of-2 from three-point range, while adding five assists and four rebounds .
Sophomore guard
Kiley Borowicz had a season-high 22 points on 4-of-7 three-point shooting while adding eight rebounds. Junior forward
Megan Hintz had 14 points and nine rebounds.
For the second straight game MSUM dominated the boards, outrebounding Bemidji State 49-28, including 20-5 on the offensive glass.
Volkert had a stellar first half with 15 points to lead the Dragons to a 33-21 halftime lead. She was 6-of-6 from the field.
Borowicz got rolling in the second half with 15 points while Hintz had 10 in just eight minutes of time. The Dragons led 55-42 after three quarters and put the game away with a 16-3 run to open the fourth.
Junior forward
Madi Green had eight points for MSUM.
The Dragons make their long-awaited home debut on Friday, Dec. 14 when they host U-Mary for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
