MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team will travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. to face Augustana and Sioux Falls this weekend. The Sioux Falls match will be Saturday at 6:30 p.m., with the Augustana match being Sunday at 9 a.m.
Both matches are in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Dragons started the season this past weekend with three wins, with two conference wins. Their first match was a 9-0 win over Concordia Moorhead. They followed that with a 7-2 win over St. Cloud State on Saturday before beating Minnesota Duluth on Sunday 6-3 to improve to 2-0 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
Three Dragons were undefeated on the weekend in singles play. Freshman Swenne Albert, sophomore Alexis Konecne, and senior Ricquel Ramsbottom all finished with 3-0 records. Freshman Julia Geske and sophomore Alyssa Wolf both finished with 2-1 records in singles play.
In doubles play, the pairing of Albert and Konecne were 3-0, along with the pairing of Ramsbottom and Zamora. The pairing of Geske and Keelin were 2-1 on the weekend.
Oliver Summers is in his sixth season as the MSUM head coach.
About Sioux Falls
The Cougars are 4-0 this season, with a 2-0 conference record. They defeated Minnesota State on Friday, and defeated Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday. They also have nonconference wins over Midland University and the College of Saint Mary (Neb.). The Cougars have two athletes who are 4-0 on the season in singles play, as Chloe Jefferies and Joelle Thorfinnson won all their matches. The doubles pairing of Rachel Klass and Kelsie Sanders are 4-0 on the season as well.
About Augustana
The Vikings are 4-1 on the season with a 2-0 conference record. Their lone loss came against Newman at the Missouri Western Duals on Feb. 2. Their two conference wins came against Minnesota State and Southwest Minnesota State, both by 9-0 records. The Vikings have three undefeated athletes, Grace Goble, Taylor Jackson and Kornel Staniszewska, who are all 3-0. The doubles pairing of Staniszewska and Berkley Darr are 5-0 in matches this season.
