SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season on Sunday with a 9-0 setback to Augustana in action in Sioux Falls, S.D.
MSUM is now 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference while Augustana improved to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the league.
"I was really proud of our team's effort today," MSUM head coach
Oliver Summers said. "They never gave up, had great attitudes and stayed focused. I hope we get another chance to play them again later in the season."
MSUM was competitive in doubles, including at No. 2, where sophomore Alyssa Wolf and Alexis Konecne battled tough before falling to Augie's duo of Taylor Jackson and Kaitlyn Schultz, 8-5.
In singles, Wolf battled Jackson at No. 3 before falling 6-3, 6-3.
MSUM will face Minnesota State and Southwest Minnesota State next weekend in Bismarck, N.D.
