MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead tennis team will take their two-match win streak to Orlando, Fla., for their annual spring break trip starting on Monday. The Dragons will play five matches over the course of four days.
They will start action on Monday, when they face Ohio Northern. On March 6 they will have two matches, against Findlay and Christian Brothers. They will face Seton Hill on March 7 before wrapping up the trip on March 8 when they face Saint Francis (Ill).
The Dragons are on a two-match win streak, after winning their two matches last weekend. The first match was against Minnesota State, where they won 7-2. The next day, they beat Southwest Minnesota State, also by a 7-2 score. They are 6-1 on the season, with a 5-1 conference mark.
In singles play, the Dragons are led by
Alexis Konecne and
Ricquel Ramsbottom, both of whom have 6-1 records. Ramsbottom is also the leader in doubles play, teaming up with
Emma Zamora for a 6-1 record. Swenne Albers is 4-1 in singles play, while both
Julia Geske and
Alyssa Wolf are 4-3 in singles competition.
After the Florida trip, the Dragons will return to Fargo to host the University of Mary in a NSIC match. They will host Minnesota-Morris in a nonconference match before returning to NSIC competition. The conference tournament will be April 20-22 in Minnetonka, Minn.
Scouting the opposition
Ohio Northern
The Polar Bears bring a 4-1 overall record into their match with MSUM, with wins over Defiance (Ohio), Concordia (Mich.), Albion (Mich.), and Adrian (Mich,). Their lone loss came against Kalamazoo (Mich.). They are led by Sabine Worthoff, who is 9-2 in singles play and 6-4 in doubles play.
Findlay
The Oilers bring a 2-3 overall record into their match with MSUM. They have wins over Deidelberg and Salem International, with losses to Oberlin, Detroit Mercy and Tiffin.
Christian Brothers University
CBU brings a 6-7 overall record and a 1-5 Gulf South Conference record into their match, with two matches still to play. They are led by Macia Judit Aubets, who is 6-6 on the season in singles competition and 7-6 in doubles competition, where she teams up with Lauren Woog and Meg Mattis.
Seton Hill
The Griffins enter the week with a 4-2 overall record and a 1-0 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference record, with wins coming over Fairmont State University, Saint Vincent College, Kutztown University and East Stroudsburg University. Their losses have both come against Carnegie Mellon University.
Saint Francis
The Fighting Saints bring a 2-4 record into the week, with wins over Lindenwood University-Belleville and Purdue University Northwest. They are led by Eva Lopez, who is 8-7 on the season in singles competition and a 7-7 record in doubles competition.
