MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team will host three matches at Courts Plus in Fargo, N.D., this week starting on Friday when they host Minnesota Morris at 6 p.m. They will host NSIC opponent Bemidji State on Saturday at 2 p.m. before wrapping up the weekend against Minnesota Crookston on Sunday at 9 a.m. Live video for all three matches can be found on msumdragons.com.
The Dragons are led by sophomore
Alexis Konecne, who is 11-1 this season in singles play. Senior
Ricquel Ramsbottom is 10-3 in singles play while sophomore
Alyssa Wolf is 8-5 in singles competition. In doubles competition, the pairing of Ramsbottom and sophomore
Emma Zamora are 10-2 this season, followed by freshman
Julia Geske and sophomore
Olivia Keelin, who are 9-4 in doubles play this season.
MSUM will hold Senior Day on Saturday prior to the Bemidji State match.
Ricquel Ramsbottom will be honored as the lone Dragon senior.
Last Time Out
The Dragons were previously in action on March 17 when they defeated the University of Mary Marauders 8-1 at Courts Plus. The win improved the Dragons to 11-2 on the season, with a 6-1 mark in NSIC competition. The Dragons won all three doubles matches, and won five of the six singles matches. Keelin won at No. 2 singles for MSUM 6-2, 6-1. Keelin also teamed up with
Julia Geske to win in doubles play. Keelin was rewarded for her efforts by being named the NSIC Player of the Week.
Looking back: Spring Break Trip
The Dragons spent their spring break in Orlando, Fla. The Dragons won four of their five matches, with the only loss coming to Findlay. The Dragons had wins over Ohio Northern, Christian Brothers, Seton Hill and Saint Francis (ILL.)
About the Cougars
The Cougars are 0-1 this season, with their lone match coming against St. Catherine University, a 9-0 loss.
About the Beavers
The Beavers are 6-3 this season, with a 4-3 mark in NSIC competition. They are on a three-match win streak with recent wins over Minnesota Duluth, Wisconsin River Falls and Minnesota Crookston. The Beavers are led by Hannah Alme who is 8-1 this season, and 6-1 in conference competition. Brooke Mimmack is 7-1 overall and 5-1 in conference competition. The top doubles pairing is Alme and Mimmack, who are 6-3 this season as a pairing.
About the Golden Eagles
The Golden Eagles enter the weekend with a 0-9 record. Their most recent competition came on March 4 when they lost to Bemidji State 9-0. They will face the University of Mary on Saturday before facing MSUM on Sunday morning.
Upcoming
The Dragons will wrap up the regular season with a trip to Winona to face Upper Iowa and Winona State on April 7-8. After that they will set their sights to the NSIC Championships on April 20-22 in Minnetonka, Minn.
