MSUM Women's Soccer Hits the Road to Face Cougars and Mustangs

MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team hits the road this week for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games. The Dragons will play at the University of Sioux Falls at 5 p.m. on Friday and conclude the trip with a matchup at Southwest Minnesota State University on Sunday at 1 p.m.

MSUM (1-4, 1-2 NSIC) defeated Minot State 3-2 in overtime on Friday and fell to the University of Mary, 1-0 on Sunday.

MSUM will meet USF for the eighth time with the Dragons holding a 4-3-1 series lead. Last season the teams tied 1-1. The Dragons will meet SMSU for the 23rd time, and the Dragons hold an 11-10-2 series lead. In last season's meeting the Dragons earned a 3-1 victory over the Mustangs.

Sophomore midfielder Carly Jo Gamrath leads the Dragons with one goal and one assist. Senior midfielder Jessica Dallman leads the team with 10 shots and has one goal. Freshman defender Jennifer Barnes and senior midfielder Tomomi Nishihara each have one goal, with Nishihara's being the game-winner in the Dragons' overtime victory over Minot State. Senior defender Kendall Schauer has one assist on the year.

Freshman goalkeeper Kayleigh Sedlacek has played in all five games for the Dragons and has 38 saves on the year. She has a 1.79 goals allowed average. Sedlacek has a 1-3 record. Her 7.60 saves per game ranks third in the NSIC.

Christie Kopietz is in her third season as the MSUM head coach.

About the University of Sioux Falls
The Cougars enter the week 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the NSIC. USF was on the road last Friday as they dropped a 0-2 game to Wayne State. On Sunday, they faced their in-town rival of Augustana and fell short 0-4. McKayla Philippi has one goal and one assist to lead the team with three points. Five players have contributed one goal. Lindsey Power has two assists to lead the team. Brayden Paul has started all six games as goalkeeper for the Cougars. Paul is 1-4 with 35 saves and a 2.67 goals allowed average. Brittany Domino is in her fourth season as head coach for USF.

About Southwest Minnesota State
The Mustangs are 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the NSIC. Last Friday, SMSU dropped a 0-2 game to Augustana but bounced back on Sunday to earn a 4-3 overtime victory over Wayne State. Alli Miskowiec leads the team with three goals and seven points. Abbey Hoisington has two goals, and four players have provided one goal. Kellie Wentz and Kaylee Burkett-Behun each have two assists, and three players have one. Jessica Craigmile has started all five games at goalkeeper. Craigmile is 2-3 with 42 saves and a 2.35 goals against average. Erin Kasmarik-Mallett is in her fourth season as the head coach for SMSU.
