MSUM Women's Soccer Falls to Peacocks, 1-0

MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team suffered a tough 1-0 loss to Upper Iowa in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Friday in Moorhead.

MSUM fell to 2-6 overall and 2-4 in the NSIC with the loss while Upper Iowa improved to 2-6 overall and 1-5 in the league.

The Dragons had a 17-12 edge in shots, including 8-6 in shots on goal, but were unable to score that crucial goal.

"We played really well, worked really hard and created a lot of chances," MSUM head coach Christie Kopietz said. "Scoring is hard and you won't get unlimited opportunities.  We have to find some composure in front of the goal."

Upper Iowa's Facienne Graham scored an unassisted goal at the 73:46 mark to provide the margin of victory.

Senior midfielder Kylee Billings had four shots, including two on goal, for MSUM. Senior Jessica Dallman had two shots on goal while senior Tomomi Nishihara had two shots.

Freshman goalkeeper Kayleigh Sedlacek had five saves for MSUM.

As part of the United Soccer Coaches Organization's Play with Pride campaign, MSUM wore rainbow laces to show its commitment to diversity and inclusion.

MSUM hosts Winona State at 1 p.m. on Saturday. It will be parents day and the parents will be announced at 12:45 p.m.
