MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team is back on the road this week for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference contests. MSUM will play at Upper Iowa at 1 p.m. on Friday and then wrap up the weekend at Winona State for a 1 p.m. game on Sunday.
The Dragons are 3-2-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the NSIC.
MSUM went 0-2 at home last weekend, losing to Sioux Falls 1-0 and Southwest Minnesota State 2-1. In the loss to SMSU, freshman forward
Mckenzie Ickert scored the goal with an assist from
Jennifer Barnes.
Ickert leads MSUM with two goals, two assists and six points. Junior
Jensen Odegaard has two goals, an assist and five points. Also scoring goals for MSUM this season are sophomore forward
Anna Steadland, freshman forward
Jacie Osier and senior forward
Maren Soupir. Steadland, Osier, Barnes and Brownell also have assists.
In goal this season sophomore
Kayleigh Sedlacek has 28 saves and is 2-1-2 in 490 minutes of action. She has three shutouts this season. Senior
Kennedy Rodgers is 1-1 with 17 saves and a shutout.
Christie Kopietz is in her fourth season as the MSUM head coach.
About Upper Iowa
Upper Iowa is 1-4-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the NSIC. The Peacocks picked up their first victory of 2019 with a 3-0 win over Minnesota Crookston last Sunday. Facienne Graham has two goals and four points to lead Upper Iowa, while Aimee Kemper, Emily Fellowes and Haley Ramberg have goals. Natalie Rudrud has 15 saves this season. James price is in his fourth season as the Upper Iowa head coach with a record of 17-38-5.
About Winona State
Winona State is 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the NSIC. The Warriors lost 1-0 to Bemidji State in their last action on Sept. 29. Georgette Topalis has three goals and six points to lead Winona State while Courtney Wiencek has two goals, one assist and five points. Taylor Johnson leads with two assists. Yanel Ortiz is 2-5 in goal with 44 saves and a 2.14 goals allowed average. Matt Kellogg is in his second season as the Winona head coach with a record of 10-13-1.
