MSUM Women's Soccer Battles Back to 1-1 Double OT Tie With Peacocks

FAYETTE, Iowa — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team battled from a one-goal halftime deficit to earn a 1-1 double-overtime tie with Upper Iowa Friday afternoon in Fayette, Iowa.

MSUM is now 3-2-3 overall and 1-2-2 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Upper Iowa is 1-4-3 overall and 1-2-2 in the league.

"It was really a good battle to come back and tie it up," MSUM head coach Christie Kopietz said. "It's great to get a point on the road."

Freshman forward Mckenzie Ickert scored her team-leading third goal of the season at the 69:43 mark of the second half to tie the game at 1-1.  Sophomore forward Anna Steadland assisted on the goal. Neither team was able to score a goal the rest of the way.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kayleigh Sedlacek had seven saves in 110 minutes of action.

Steadland led with three shots, including two on goal, while sophomore Jennifer Barnes had two shots on goal.

MSUM faces Winona State at 1 p.m. on Sunday in Winona, Minn.
