MOORHEAD, Minn.—The Minnesota State University Moorhead men's basketball team lost the final contest of its seven-game homestand on Saturday, losing to Bemidji State 79-67 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.

MSUM falls to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the NSIC. Bemidji State improves to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the NSIC.
The Dragons were outshot by Bemidji State, shooting 37.5 percent (21-of-56) from the field compared to 51.8 percent (29-of-56) for the Beavers. Sophomore guard
Bryce Irsfeld led the Dragons with 21 points on 9-of-18 shooting. Sophomore guard
Gavin Baumgartner scored 16 for the Dragons and also led the team in rebounding with nine. Senior guard
Johnny Beeninga had 10 points.
The Dragons trailed from start-to-finish. A Bemidji State free throw gave the Beavers a 28-18 lead late in the first-half. MSUM rallied back, and an Irsfeld jumper cut the lead to just four at the half. The Dragons went into halftime down 33-29.
The Dragons were within five at 60-55 with 7:50 left after a Baumgartner basket but the Beavers responded with an 11-4 run to push the lead to 71-59 on their way to the win.
With the conclusion of their homestand, the Dragons look ahead to their first road conference games. MSUM will take on UMary on Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. The next day, the Dragons face off with Minot State at 5:30 p.m.
Steve d'Eustachio Stat of the Game: Tonight marks the first time the Dragons lost to both Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji St. at home in the same season since falling 74-73 to the Beavers on Jan. 13, 2006 and 72-58 to the Golden Eagles the next night.
