ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team rallied from a 10-point second half deficit to send the game to an extra frame, and the Dragons were able to earn a 63-58 overtime victory over Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday in St. Paul, Minn.

With the win, MSUM (18-4, 14-2 NSIC) remained in first place in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference by one game over Minnesota Duluth with six games remaining. CSP fell to 15-6 overall and 11-5 in the league.

Junior forward Megan Hintz had her ninth double-double of the season with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Senior guard Jacky Volkert had 16 points, five assists and five rebounds while sophomore guard Kiley Borowicz had her first career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Redshirt freshman forward Peyton Boom had 11 points and six rebounds off the bench.

A big difference in the game was second-chance points, where MSUM held a 16-7 edge, thanks to a 19-9 edge in offensive rebounds.

A late basket in regulation by Concordia-St. Paul tied the game, sending the contest into overtime. Hintz scored the first four points of overtime to make it 59-55 and the Dragons never relinquished the lead after that. Volkert scored the final four points in overtime to seal the win.

MSUM trailed 25-21 at halftime and 46-36 late in the third quarter, but the Dragon defense stepped up big, holding the Golden Bears to just 12 points over the final 15 minutes of regulation and overtime.

Volkert and Borowicz had three steals each. Junior forward Madi Green had seven points and seven rebounds along with a team-best two blocks.

The Dragons open a four-game homestand on Feb. 8 against Southwest Minnesota State. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m.
