CLERMONT, Fla. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team fell to Anderson Broaddus, 4-2 and Edinboro, 5-3 in non conference games Monday in Clermont, Fla.
MSUM fell to 2-11 on the season.
In the first game of the day, MSUM outhit the Battlers 10-7.
Redshirt freshman outfielder
Samantha Gjerde was 4-for-4 with a run scored, while senior shortstop
Taylor Roddie was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double. Junior designated hitter
Payton Gaber was 2-for-3 while junior
Emma Dummer was 1-for-4 with a double. Freshman infielder
Kaiya Sundeen was 1-for-2.
Freshman
Anna Lang took the loss, giving up three earned runs in 3.1 innings. She struck out none and walked five. Sophomore
Becky Berth pitched the final 2.2 innings and gave up one earned run.
MSUM led 2-0 after the top of the first thanks to a two-run double from Roddie. Alderson Broaddus scored four unanswered runs to take the lead.
The Dragons left seven runners on base.
Against Edinboro, Dummer was 1-for-3 with a run scored while freshman
Ally Helgoe was 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Gjerde had the other Dragon hit. Roddie scored a run.
Berth took the loss for MSUM, giving up four earned runs in seven innings. She struck out one and walked four.
MSUM is off until Thursday faces Nyack College and Franklin Pierce.
