LONG BEACH, Calif. — Freshman
Shyrone Kemp had a solid performance in the triple jump to highlight the day for the Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams at the Long Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Calif.
Kemp recorded a personal-best of 47-9 1/2 in the triple. That is within centimeters of an NCAA provisional qualifying jump and the fourth-best jump in the NSIC this season. He finished 22nd, ahead of several Division I athletes.
Sophomore
Chris Cook jumped a 6-9 in the high jump to finish in a tie for 13th. Dragon assistant coach
Trevor Barry, a multi-time Olympian, won the event, competing unattached, a 7-2. Kemp was 25th at 6-5.
Freshman
Shaquiel Higgs 10.89 in 100 and added a 22.43 in the 200. Freshman
Ty Dawkins ran a 50.29 in the 400 to finish 47th and added a 23.12 in the 200.
Junior
Summer Storm ran a 1:06.12 in the women's 400-meter hurdles
MSUM will send athletes to the Cobber Twilight on Tuesday. The Dragons will host the Masanz Classic on Saturday.
