MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball Assistant Coach Allison Swenson was accepted to attend the 2019 NCAA Basketball Coaches Academy from May 8-9 in Tampa, Fla.
 
Swenson is one of 30 participants selected from a pool comprising of both men's and women's basketball coaches from all three divisions.
 
"First, and with great appreciation, I would like to thank Chad Markuson for the encouragement to apply for this academy. I would also like to thank the NCAA selection committee for this rare opportunity," said Coach Swenson. "I am humbled and honored for the opportunity to participate in the NCAA Basketball Coaches Academy. I look forward to gaining expanded knowledge in various leadership methods, and I am excited to put them to use for MSUM Women's Basketball and our Athletics Department."

During the academy, the NCAA will educate and train selected participants in a variety of areas that encourage effective coaching at the intercollegiate level. Topics include, but are not limited to: effective communication with campus and community constituents, the importance of building culture focused on the overall success of the student-athletes both on and off the court, budget management of a basketball program, and coaching strategies.

Participants will gain knowledge from a variety of workshops and interactive-discussion sessions. They will also be able to network with individuals that include the other participants and key leaders within the NCAA and intercollegiate basketball.
