MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team makes its 2019 regular-season home debut on Friday when it hosts Michigan Tech. Game time is 4 p.m. at the MSUM Soccer Field.
The Dragons are 1-0-1 on the season.
MSUM opened the 2019 season by going 1-0-1 in nonconference play in Kearney, Neb. MSUM tied Nebraska-Kearney, 0-0 on Friday and then beat Harding, 3-0 on Sunday.
Sophomore
Kayleigh Sedlacek was named the NSIC Goalkeeper of the Week after pitching a shutout against Nebraska-Kearney. She had nine saves in 110 minutes.
In the win over Harding, senior midfielder
Maren Soupir, junior midfielder
Jensen Odegaard and freshman forward
Mckenzie Ickert had goals, while
Anna Steadland and
Jacie Osier had assists. Senior goalkeeper
Kennedy Rodgers picked up the win, recording three saves.
Christie Kopietz is in her fourth season as the MSUM head coach.
About Michigan Tech
Michigan Tech is 1-0-1 on the season after opening with a pair of NSIC foes for nonconference play. The Huskies tied St. Cloud State, 0-0 on Sept. 6 and beat Minnesota Duluth, 3-2 on Sept. 8.
Goalkeeper Grace VanLangevelde had 11 saves in the win over Minnesota Duluth.
Jesse Jacobusse leads the Huskies with two goals and four points. Grace Shaw has a goal, an assist and three points. Michigan Tech is picked to finish fifth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference according to a preseason coaches poll.
Michelle Jacob is in her seventh season as the MTU head coach.
