MSUM & WDAY continue TV partnership for 2019-20 Season

MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons and WDAY have renewed their television broadcast agreement for 2019-20 that will bring fans live coverage of all home football and basketball conference games and special events.

"The longstanding partnership with WDAY allows us to continue being a leader in NCAA Division II in game production and distribution," said athletics director Doug Peters.

"WDAY and WDAY Xtra are thrilled to continue partnering with MSUM as the television home of the Dragons," said WDAY Vice President of Broadcast Joshua Roher.  "Providing audiences with high quality broadcasts from MSUM aligns perfectly with our commitment to provide the best in live, local content. We look forward to another great year with MSUM."

All MSUM broadcasts (DragonsLIVE) on WDAY XTRA are produced by GO! TEAM Productions, consisting of a totally student-run team under the supervision of Alex Nelson and Jon Wepking.

"We are fired up to continue our partnership with our friends at WDAY'Z XTRA for another season," said assistant athletics director Jon Wepking.  "They've been an incredible partner who believes in what MSUM students can do when given the opportunity to showcase their talents in a hands-on learning environment.  Very proud of Alex and the entire GO! TEAM for constantly exceeding everyone's expectations, and appreciative of WDAY for helping us display their talents on their platform."

Last year, GO! TEAM Productions fully upgraded their broadcast control room to include better audio, graphics, replay, switching, and distribution.  MSUM students looking for the opportunity to practice on-campus what they're learning in the classroom, gain great experience for their resume, and join a great team of people who love sports...apply to join the GO! TEAM at MSUMDragons.com/GOTEAM

The partnership between WDAY and MSUM began as a single game broadcast of the Go Pink basketball games in 2013.  The following 2014-15 athletic year, the coverage bloomed to include all home football and basketball games.  In 2015-16, the Dragons included two volleyball games that followed football coverage and a full season of monthly DragonsLIVE shows. In 2017-18 volleyball matches were included once again along with home football and basketball conference games.

DragonsLIVE received two huge honors from the Sports Video Group in 2015 as the DragonsLIVE from Evansville episode was a collegiate athletics national finalist for Outstanding Live Studio/Remote Hosted Production of the year in 2015.  Other finalists included Texas A&M University, the University of Arkansas, the University of Notre Dame, Liberty University, the University of Wyoming, and the University of Buffalo.  Although the Dragons did not win the award, MSUM was the only NCAA Division II university finalist on the docket for all awards.   GO! TEAM Productions also earned an Honorable Mention for Best Live Game Coverage from the Sports Video Group for their men's basketball NSIC/Sanford Health Playoffs First Round broadcast in 2015 as well.

The DragonsLIVE Signing Day Special digital coverage also won a national award from the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators "Best of" Award.

MSUM's first televised game of the year will be the home football game against the University of Minnesota-Duluth, which is September 14th at Scheels Field at 6:00 p.m.
