MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season on Friday as Sioux Falls defeated the Dragons, 1-0 at MSUM's Soccer Field.
MSUM is now 3-1-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference while USF improved to 1-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the league.
Both teams finished with 10 shots on the game. Senior goalkeeper
Kennedy Rodgers had five saves in 45 minutes of action while sophomore goalkeeper
Kayleigh Sedlacek had one.
Junior forwards
Anna Steadland and
Jensen Odegaard each had three shots, including two on goal for MSUM. Freshman midfielder
Kate Weigum and sophomore defender
Kaylee Parsons had one shot on goal while freshman forward
Mckenzie Ickert and junior midfielder
Tomomi Nishihara had shots for MSUM.
USF scored the lone goal of the game in the first half and took a 1-0 lead into halftime. In the second half, MSUM pressured in USF's zone and had chances but was unable to score the tying goal.
MSUM hosts Southwest Minnesota State at 1 p.m. on Sunday for Parents Day.
