BEMIDJI, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead track and field teams claimed seven wins at the Bemidji State Open on Saturday in Bemidji, Minn. No team scores were kept.
Sophomore Shryone Kemp won the men's triple jump at 46-10 1/4 with sophomore
Tyler Berby second at 43-8.
Sophomore
Ty Dawkins edged sophomore teammate
Shaquiel Higgs for the win in the 60-meter dash. Dawkins ran a winning time of 6.98 while Higgs ran a time of 7.16.
Senior
Kathryn Sistrunk won the 3,000 meters in 11:02.15 and was second in the mile at 5:32.32 while sophomore
Andrea Wells was third at 5:51.86.
Senior
Zach Sweep won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.45.
MSUM's 4x400 relay, consisting of Dawkins, freshman
Connor Lehr,
Kendrick Major and
Clay Jackson, won in 3:29.06. Senior
Jonas Matzen won the high jump at 6-2 1/2 with Sweep taking second at 6-2 3/4. Matzen was second in the pole vault at 14-2.
Junior
Nick Marshall won the 1,000-meter run in 2:34.03 while
Braxton Bruer was second in 2:34.20 and sophomore
Carson Speicher fourth in 2:34.47.
Sophomore
Hunter Roseborough was second in the shot put 47-1 3/4 while junior
Tanner Berby was third at 46-7. Berby was third in the weight throw at 54-8 1/4 while
Jerron McDonald was fourth. Junior
Drew Mears was second in the 3,000 in 9:13.44.
Lehr was second in the 200 in 23.61 while
Kendrick Major on 23.67. MSUM finished 2-3-4 in the 800, with freshman
Austin Gruenberg taking second in 2:03.41 while freshman
Sam Gebhart was third at 2:04.97 and
Abs Njai fourth at 2:05.01.
Freshman LaKyla Yazzie was second in the 800-meter run in 2:26.19 while freshman
McKenzie Maki was third in 2:29.48. Sophomore
Sophia Sowada was second in the high jump at 5-5 while sophomore
Caitlin Pritchett was third at 5-3 and sophomore
Tessa Schroeder was 5-3.
Sophomore
Anna Steadland was second in the 200 in 26.03 and third in the 60-meter dash at 7.80. Freshman
Amaya Jerdee was third in the 200 in 26.87 and was fifth in the 60 at 8.03.
MSUM's 4x400 relay, consisting of
Cory Duffield, Yazzie, Maki and Wells, was second in 4:21.28.
The Dragons are a the UND Open and Multis on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
