MINOT, N.D. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead team outlasted Minot State in five sets on Tuesday, prevailing 29-27, 25-21, 20-25, 21-25, 15-11 in Minot, N.D.
MSUM is now 5-11 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference while Minot fell to 1-15. The Dragons won both meetings between the two teams this season.

Bridget Witzmann finished with a career-high 20 kills and hit .261 for the match.

Amanda Carlson had 16 kills while freshman middle blocker
Abby Thompson had nine.
Freshman setter
Kelly Klees had 46 assists while freshman defensive specialist
Jordan Hein had three service aces.
Sophomore defensive specialist
Brooke Walthall had a career-high 18 digs while Klees had 14 and Hein 10.
Thompson had two solo blocks and two assists while Witzmann and junior middle blocker
Elise Bakke each had a solo block and two assists.
MSUM was down 9-8 in the decisive fifth set but scored three in a row to take an 11-9 lead. The set was tied at 11-11, but the Dragons recorded four straight points – which included a kill from Bakke, a block from Thompson, a kill from freshman
Summer Salettel and an ace from Walthall – to earn a 15-11 win.
The Dragons survived a hard-fought first set. Minot led 27-26 but MSUM scored the final three points of the set to prevail. Carlson had a kill and a block during that stretch while Thompson finished off the set with a kill.
MSUM also won the second set 25-21 and looked to finish the sweep, but Minot State won the third and fourth sets to set up the decisive fifth set.
The Dragons are back in action on Friday at Minnesota State, Mankato.
