MOORHEAD, Minn. –  Junior basketball players Gavin Baumgartner and Natalie Steichen have been named the Minnesota State University Moorhead Athletes of the Week presented by Buffalo Wild Wings for the week of Dec. 6-12.
 
A native of Plymouth, Minn., Baumgartner had solid back-to-back games as the MSUM men recorded 15-point road wins at Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston last weekend. He averaged 17.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. He had 16 points in a 68-53 win over Bemidji State on Friday and added 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists in a 75-60 win at Minnesota Crookston.
 
A native of Dilworth, Minn., Steichen averaged 12.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists as the MSUM women went 1-1 on the road. Steichen had 12 points, six rebounds and four assists in a 69-68 loss at Bemidji State on Friday and followed with 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists in a 75-62 win over Minnesota Crookston on Saturday. She leads MSUM in rebounding and assists this season.
