MOORHEAD, Minn. — The unbeaten Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team will play its only two home matches of 2021 this weekend. The Dragons will face at Winona State at 4 p.m. on Saturday and Upper Iowa at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
The matches will be at Courts Plus Tennis Facilities in Fargo, N.D.
The MSUM women's ennis matches this weekend will follow the Courts Plus Community Fitness Center COVID-19 guidelines. This includes wearing a mask (excluding the players while in competition), social distancing, and asking that only two fans per player attend the matches. Bleacher seating has been marked indicating social distancing in the court areas and seating has been spaced accordingly in the additional viewing areas.
MSUM is currently 2-0 overall and in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference after beating Bemidji State (5-2) and Minnesota Crookston (7-0) last weekend in Virginia, Minn. Seniors Julia Geske and Lorissa Yuen and juniors Miranda Griechen and Mikaela Griechen are each 2-0 in singles, while Emma Anderson and Madison Bell are 2-0 in doubles.
Winona State is 1-1 overall and in the NSIC after beating Sioux Falls, 5-2 and losing to Augustana, 7-0 last weekend in Winona.. Sara Anderson, Rachel Kelly, Beth Murman, and Rina Niehoff are all 1-1 overall for the Warriors.
Upper Iowa will begin its season this weekend after their first two matches of the season were postponed. Upper Iowa was 3-7 overall and 2-6 in the NSIC last season. Varvara Ogorodnikova was 5-2 in singles last year for the Peacocks.
