FARGO, N.D. — Junior Emma Andersen's three-set win at No. 6 singles helped the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team seal a hard-fought 4-3 win over Winona State in action Saturday at Courts Plus in Fargo, N.D.

MSUM is now 3-0 on the year while Winona State fell to 1-2. 

"We won a tough one against Winona State," MSUM head coach Jason Thiner said. "Being down 3-1 at one point, key singles victories by Mikaela and Miranda Griechen and a three set win by Emma Andersen with everyone watching for the full third set were huge. Julia Geske also came up with a big singles victory to help secure the win."

Andersen's win at No. 6 came with the score of the match tied at 4-4. She won the first set against Winona State's Sara Anderson before dropping the second 6-2. She battled back for a 6-1 win in the third set to clinch the match victory for MSUM.

Winona State won the doubles point by winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. MSUM seniors Julia Geske and Lorissa Yuen teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles over Beth Murman and Audrey Delich.

Geske topped Murman, 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Junior Mikaela Griechen topped Delich, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 4 singles for MSUM while junior Miranda Griechen topped Brooke Jorgensen 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 for the Dragons. 

MSUM hosts Upper Iowa for Senior Day at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
