Dragon Women's Tennis Falls to First-Place Vikings, 7-0

BISMARCK, N.D. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 contest to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference leader Augustana on Sunday in Bismarck, N.D.

MSUM fell to 7-2 overall and in the NSIC with the loss while the Vikings improved to 10-1 overall and 7-0 in the league.

"The ladies rebounded from yesterday's disappointing loss and competed very well against the top team in the conference," MSUM head coach Jason Thiner said. "We hope to use this as a springboard into our final two matches of the regular season in two weeks."

Augustana won the doubles point, sweeping all three. MSUM fought hard at No. 1 as senior Julia Geske and junior Mikaela Griechen lost to Valeriya Monko and Flore Hadjigeorgiou 6-3.

Geske lost to Monko 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1. Junior Emma Andersen was also in a competitive match at No. 5 singles for the Dragons, losing to Margarita Chouliara 6-4, 6-2.

MSUM faces Minnesota State, Mankato on April 10 in Owatonna, Minn., for its next action.
