MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team wraps up a 10-game homestand this weekend with a pair of doubleheaders. MSUM hosts Southwest Minnesota State at 1 p.m. on Saturday and wraps up the weekend against Sioux Falls for a noon doubleheader on Sunday.
MSUM (6-20, 3-7 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) opened the homestand with a 2-4 record. The wins came against Minnesota Crookston on Saturday and Bemidji State on Sunday as the Dragons split with both teams.
The Dragons are looking for their first win over SMSU since 2006 and their first win over USF since 2013.
Senior Emma Dummer became MSUM's all-time leader in doubles last weekend. She now has 35, breaking the previous mark of 33. She had a solid week last week at the plate, hitting .389.
Dummer leads MSUM with a .338 average; she has seven doubles and a team-best 12 RBI. Freshman infielder Miah Hartvigsen is hitting .302 with eight RBI while junior outfielder Jordey Smith is hitting .300.
On the mound junior Anna Lang is 3-10 with a 5.84 ERA. She has thrown five complete games. Freshman Reece Dahl is 3-9 and has thrown two shutouts.
Amanda Reckamp is in her third season as the MSUM head coach.
About SMSU
The Mustangs are 16-8 overall and 7-3 in the NSIC. They will face No. 1 Augustana on Wednesday after this release has been posted. Emma Grote is hitting .469 with 11 RBI for the Mustangs while Lileya Kenos is hitting .427 with 15 RBI. Kali Tomlinson has eight homers and 29 RBI to lead the team in both categories. Megan Cull is 8-2 on the mound with a 2.45 ERA. Bailey Bouman is in her third season as the SMSU head coach.
About Sioux Falls
The Cougars are 12-14 overall and 6-6 in the NSIC. They were swept by Upper Iowa on Sunday. Damaris Cuevas is hitting .463 with a homer and 10 RBI while Kylan Straight is hitting .291. Kaitlyn VanDerZwaag is 6-6 on the mound with a 3.10 ERA. Shannon Pivovar is in her third season as the USF head coach.
