ALLENDALE, Mich. — Minnesota State University Moorhead senior Chris Cook picked up the fourth All-American honor of his Dragon career after tying for seventh in the high jump at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday in Allendale, Mich.
Cook has now earned three All-American first-team honors and also had a second-team honor in track and field, all coming in the high jump.
The Minneapolis native cleared the initial height of 6-6 3/4 and then on his third attempt, cleared 6-8 3/4. He was unable to clear any further heights.
The meet was also the final one for long-time high jumps Coach Dave Bergstrom, who is retiring. Bergstrom is in the MSUM Athletics Hall of Fame.
"I know Coach Bergstrom and Chris had big goals in mind coming into these championships and were hoping for a better outcome," MSUM head track and field/cross country coach Ryan Milner said. Despite that, I'm still glad that both had the opportunity to be at one last National Championship together and finish their Dragon careers with an All-American performance."
