MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead volleyball team dropped a 25-21, 25-21, 25-14 contest to Minnesota State, Mankato in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action on Saturday at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead.
MSUM fell to 1-12 overall and 1-4 in the NSIC. Minnesota State improved to 8-5 overall and 3-2 in the league.
Junior outside hitter Amanda Carlson had 12 kills while junior middle blocker Elise Bakke and junior outside hitter Bridget Witzmann had five each.
Senior libero Sarah Petrbok had 15 digs while Carlson had 14.
Freshman setter Halle Erickson had 10 assists while freshman setter Kelly Klees had nine and freshman Jordan Hein eight. Carlson led with two service aces.
Carlson, Witzmann and freshman middle blocker Lexi Pew had two block assists each. Bakke had a solo block and an assist.
MSUM had a 15-9 lead in the first set but Minnesota State rallied for the 25-21 win. The Mavericks led almost the whole way in sets two and three.
The Dragons host No. 5 Southwest Minnesota State on Oct. 1 as part of homecoming weekend.
