MSUM Women Begin 4-Game Road Stretch at Mavericks and Golden Bears

The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team begins a stretch of four straight road games with two Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference contests this weekend.

MSUM travels to Minnesota State Mankato for a 5:30 p.m,. game on Friday at 5:30 p.m. then visits Concordia St. Paul at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. It will be the Dragons' first meetings against the two NSIC South teams since the 2019-20 season. Masks will be required for fans attending the Concordia-St. Paul game.

The Dragons are 6-8 on the season and 5-5 in the NSIC after falling to Winona State and defeating Upper Iowa last week at home.

Junior forward Peyton Boom leads the team in points per game with 16.1, followed by freshman guard Natalie Jens with 10.6 points per game.

Boom also leads the team in rebounds per game with 6.6. Junior guard Natalie Steichen leads the team in assists per game with 3.7.

Karla Nelson is in her 22nd season as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

The Mavericks are 13-4 on the season and 9-4 in the NSIC after falling to Minot State and defeating UMary last week. Sophomore Joey Batt leads the team in points per game with 16.2, followed by freshman Destinee Bursch with 11.4 points per game. Batt also leads the team in steals per game with 2.8. Sophomore Emily Russo leads the team in rebounds per game with 5.4. Emilee Thiesse is in her 10th season as head coach at Minnesota State Mankato.

About Concordia St. Paul

The Golden Bears are 11-6 on the season and 7-6 in the NSIC after falling to Minot State and defeating UMary last week. Freshman Lindsey Becher leads the team in points per game with 13.5, followed closely by senior Riley Wheatcraft with 12.9 points per game. Sophomore Sidney Zgutowicz leads the team in rebounds per game with 8.1. Junior Meghan DuBois leads the team in assists per game with 5.5. Amanda Johnson is in her seventh season as head coach at Concordia St. Paul.
